The Library of History, Book 3, chapters 49–61

Diodorus Siculus, 1935. Diodorus of Sicily, vol. 2 (Loeb Classical Library).

The Amazons of Libya lived on the island Hespera in the marsh Tritonis, near the ocean, Ethiopia and Mount Atlas (3.53); they conquered the Atlantians, "the most civilized men" of those parts, and razed their city Cerne (3.54); the marsh vanished in an earthquake (3.55); the Atlantians' account of the gods follows (3.56–61). The Loeb editor notes that Diodorus took this from the mythical romance of Dionysius Skytobrachion (mid-2nd century BC).
