Diodorus took the Atlantians from a mythical romance written two centuries after Plato, and does not link them to…
The Loeb editor notes that Diodorus drew this account from Dionysius Skytobrachion, a writer of the mid-second century BC whose work was a mythical romance; Diodorus never connects his Atlantians with Plato's Atlantis, and in his account it is the marsh, not the Atlantians' land, that vanishes.
