What it's used for here
Six-page Blue Book folder. Its Project 10073 record card gives the conclusion 'Hoax': an instrument a farmer said landed on his land near Danforth and burned the weeds around it. Holds the original of the Air Materiel Command letter of 25 August 1947 signed by Col. H. M. McCoy to the Commanding General, Army Air Forces (attn. Lt. Col. George Garrett): the specimens, obtained by the FBI, were a plaster-of-paris body with resistance wire, a 1910-patent Nathaniel Baldwin speaker diaphragm, rewound bakelite coil forms and a Polymet filter condenser, had 'no connection whatsoever with the \"Mogul\" project', and were 'part of a hoax'. A copy of the same letter and photograph sits in the Incident 88 folder.
