Mitchell Flat, Presidio County
desert plain
Note
An approximate centre for the grassland and desert scrub between Marfa and Alpine that the viewing area looks over; no gazetteer point for it was found (Wikidata has none). Stephan et al. place Bunnell's stations on Mitchell Flat 'between Marfa and Alpine', Dunning puts it about ten miles east of Marfa, and Borraz and Ballester Olmos trace Nopal/Escondido Road across it (OpenStreetMap tracks near 30.257 N, 103.931 W and 30.187 N, 103.895 W). The point stands for the area, not a sighting.
