From the viewing area, lights appeared, twinkled and vanished along one path in line with a radio tower east of US 67; the chase car's flashing headlights looked the same in place, brightness and colour, and a light seen passing the chase car's position matched a car passing it. From the highway, the chase team saw only ordinary headlights.
