Gulf of Gabès
Butavand's and Borchardt's Atlantis, between the chotts and the sea
Note
Position from Wikidata Q323760. Butavand was one of the first modern writers to put Atlantis in the Gulf of Gabès; Borchardt, in German articles of 1927, placed it between the Chott el Djerid and the gulf, and put the Pillars of Heracles at a temple of Hercules at Gabès. Peyras and Trousset (1988) note that the Herodotean tradition puts Lake Tritonis here.
