Is the Psychro inscription a genuine Eteocretan text or a modern forgery?

Asked 31 Oct 2026 by ·2 answers·0·0 following
Two answers, none aheadNone is ahead yet. See what would settle it.

Where it stands

Two answers have been proposed. None is ahead on the evidence yet. Two are still possible.

Why it matters

Brown and Duhoux accepted the Psychro stone as Eteocretan, but Kritzas argued in 2006 that it is a modern forgery, and the Supplementum Epigraphicum Graecum records it as such[1][2]. Kenanidis and Papakitsos defend it and base a decipherment on it[3].
