Do Cretan Hieroglyphic and Linear A record the same language? A syllabotactic test (chapter 8 of Cretan Hieroglyphic)
Brent Davis, 2024.
What it's used for here
Chapter 8 of Civitillo, Ferrara and Meissner (eds), Cretan Hieroglyphic, Cambridge University Press 2024, open access. Applies the method Davis used on the Phaistos Disc in 2018, comparing how the two scripts combine their shared sign shapes within words, to test whether they write one language; the reviewer Donnelly finds the method hard to evaluate and objects to the exclusion of the cat-face sign AB 80 from the data. The chapter title here is descriptive; the printed title was not retrieved.
