How old is the Eye of Africa? A polyphase history for the igneous Richat Structure, Mauritania

El Houssein Abdeina, Fred Jourdan, Gilles Chazot et al., 2024. Lithos 482-483: 107698.

First plagioclase 40Ar/39Ar work and new geochemistry on the Richat gabbros. No robust age was obtained, but modelling places them at 230–200 Ma, matching the Central Atlantic Magmatic Province, later domed by the 99 Ma alkaline intrusion.
