Dating Pictographs with Radiocarbon

Wayne Ilger, Marian Hyman, John R. Southon et al., 1995. Radiocarbon.

Progress report on plasma-oxidation dating of more than 16 pictograph samples from Texas, Utah, Montana, Baja California and Angola. Gives Pecos River style paint between 2950 plus or minus 60 and 4200 plus or minus 90 radiocarbon years BP and warns that organic material in the rock and accretions can negate a date.
