The Great North Road: A Cosmographic Expression of the Chaco Culture of New Mexico

Anna Sofaer, Michael P. Marshall, Rolf M. Sinclair, 1989. World Archaeoastronomy, ed. Anthony F. Aveni, Cambridge University Press: 365-376.

Describes the road's course from Pueblo Alto: 13° east of north for 3 km to Escavada Wash, within half a degree of north for 16 km to Pierre's Complex, then about 2° east of north for 31 km to a stairway down into Kutz Canyon, with doubled and quadrupled parallel stretches and almost no settlements along it. Reads it as a cosmographic road to the direction of emergence.
