Parallel roads, solstice and sacred geography at the Gasco Site: a Chacoan ritual landscape
Robert S. Weiner, Richard A. Friedman, John R. Stein, 2025. Antiquity 99(404): 500-516.
Uses freely available 1 m USGS lidar elevation models and field survey to show that the Gasco Road, about 80 km south of Chaco, runs for more than 6.4 km with a parallel road about 35 m to its south, and that both align with springs and with the winter solstice sunrise over Mount Taylor.
