The Lost Colony is Found! How We Did It.

First Colony Foundation, 2026. firstcolonyfoundation.org.

The Foundation's account (4 June 2026): in 2012 the British Museum found a fort symbol under a patch on John White's map at the west end of Albemarle Sound, in today's Bertie County; Site X, at the mouth of a navigable creek near the Algonquian town of Mettaquem, gave English sherds of possible 16th-century date and a late 16th-century lead cloth seal from Augsburg; upstream Site Y gave more Elizabethan artifacts and no Native ones; it concludes the two were parts of a dispersed farm settlement along the Chowan River.
