Remains of the searchers' cofferdams across Smith's Cove as mapped in OpenStreetMap (ways 433008044 and 433008337, 'Coffers Dam (remains)'). MacPhie and Wonnacott (2006) compare the 1850/1866 and 1970 dams with the 1916 Lozier and 1937 Roper surveys and with air photos of 1929 to 1992; which dam these remains belong to is not settled here.
