Smith's Cove

cove and beach

Cove and beach0

Note

The searchers' Smith's Cove is the small cove at the eastern tip, north of Isaacs Point, about 180 m east of the money pit, where the cofferdams of 1850 and later were built (labelled on MacPhie and Wonnacott's aerial photographs and on Fortune's map). The federal gazetteer calls this cove Sheerdam Cove (CBIJY, 1974) and gives the name Smiths Cove (CBJFD) to the larger bay on the south-east shore, which the searchers call South Shore Cove.
