J. Allen Hynek
Ohio State University astronomer and the Air Force's astronomical consultant to Projects Sign, Grudge and Blue Book. 1910–1986.
Hynek reviewed the early Project Sign incident summaries for astronomical explanations. On Incident 88 he wrote that no astronomical interpretation could be given and that the information was too meagre to say more, and the Grudge report's incident index lists it as unexplained for lack of evidence [@usaf1947incident88] [@grudge1949report]. On the Wildwood case, Incident 50, he judged the one corroborated sighting most probably a slow-moving fireball [@usaf1948incident50].
