Plato's rings were belts of sea joined to the ocean by a channel, not a lake fed by rivers

In the Critias the rings round Atlantis's capital are belts of sea, cut by Poseidon and reached from the open sea by a channel 50 stades long; a lake or marsh filled by rivers is not what Plato describes.
