Leaf waxes off the western Sahara put the Green Sahara at about 11,000 to 5000 years ago, with a likely abrupt end

Leaf-wax records from marine cores off the western Sahara show the Green Sahara from about 11,000 to 5000 years ago, with rain reaching as far north as 31°N; it probably ended abruptly, and a drier pause about 8000 years ago coincides with a temporary abandonment of Neolithic sites.
