A pebble-tool site found in 1999 was in place in a palaeosol, with a refit, and judged older than the early Acheulean
The "Théodore Monod" site, found by G. Prince in 1999, yielded 113 fresh artefacts, mostly choppers and flakes, in a sandy palaeosol; their homogeneity and a refit led Prince to judge the assemblage in place and older than the early Acheulean.
