What it's used for here
The Conversation, May 2023, written by the eBL team at LMU. Reports about 1,500 joins in the project's five years against about 5,000 in the previous 150 years of Assyriology, a string-alignment algorithm modelled on bioinformatics sequence alignment, and a separate model trained on under 20,000 lines that resolved ambiguous sign readings with 98 per cent success. Used for the join counts and the project's own account of its methods.
