Cipher Type Detection
Malte Nuhn, Kevin Knight, 2014. Proceedings of the 2014 Conference on Empirical Methods in Natural Language Processing (EMNLP).
Trains a classifier to tell which of 50 cipher types, as defined by the American Cryptogram Association, produced a given ciphertext, so that archive material can be sorted before anyone tries to break it.
What it's used for here
The survey on inductive methods lists it among cipher-type classifiers, noting that their training classes are classical cipher types.
