No detection of methane on Mars from early ExoMars Trace Gas Orbiter observations

Oleg Korablev, Ann Carine Vandaele, Franck Montmessin et al., 2019. Nature 568(7753), 517–520.

ACS and NOMAD solar-occultation observations from April to August 2018 found no methane at any latitude, with an upper limit of about 0.05 ppbv, 10 to 100 times below earlier detections. Reconciling this with Gale requires an unknown process that removes methane from the lower atmosphere before it spreads.
