Retraction: A 12,800-year-old layer with cometary dust, microspherules, and platinum anomaly recorded in multiple cores from Baffin Bay

The PLOS One Editors, 2026. PLOS One 21, e0342613.

The retraction notice of 11 February 2026. Lists incorrect and unsupportive citations (raising concern about undisclosed AI use), inadequately reported dating, a radiocarbon calibration that did not follow recommended methods for the latitude and period and that gives younger ages outside the Younger Dryas when done as recommended, material in Supplementary Figures S30–S34 identified by experts as foraminifera rather than cosmic spherules, sampling unable to assess background variability, and unclear data attribution in the Zenodo repository. One author agreed; eight disagreed.
