Relativistic-microwave theory of ball lightning
H.-C. Wu, 2016. Scientific Reports 6, 28263.
Proposes that a relativistic electron bunch at the tip of a stroke reaching the ground excites intense microwaves that ionise air and, by radiation pressure, form a plasma bubble that traps the radiation; verified with particle simulations and claimed to explain occurrence, shape, size, motion, spectrum and appearances in aircraft.
