A Topographical and Historical Description of the Parish of Tixall, in the County of Stafford

Thomas Clifford, Arthur Clifford, 1817. Paris: M. Nouzou.

The Clifford brothers' history of Tixall and its neighbours. Its account of Shugborough describes the Shepherd's Monument as Scheemakers's work under Thomas Anson and, in a footnote, prints the letters O. U. O. S. V. A. V. V. over D. M., adding that Anson "would never explain" them.
