The Lost Dutchman: Where the Legend Began
Marshall (attributed) Trimble, n.d.. True West Magazine (Tom Kollenborn Chronicles series).
Dates the legend's making: Julia Thomas and the Petrasch brothers' failed search returned in late September 1892, told Pierpont C. Bicknell, whose January 1895 San Francisco Chronicle article first joined Waltz, the Peraltas and Weaver's Needle and coined "Dutchman's Lost Gold". Notes the Black Queen and Mammoth strikes near Goldfield months later.
What it's used for here
For the 1892 to 1895 origin of the printed legend.
