Fast radio bursts as synchrotron maser emission from decelerating relativistic blast waves

Brian D. Metzger, Ben Margalit, Lorenzo Sironi, 2019. Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society 485(3), 4091–4106.

Models bursts as synchrotron maser emission from magnetised shocks, driven by flare ejecta from young magnetars running into material from earlier flares, and reproduces the energies, durations and downward frequency drift of FRB 121102's bursts.
