ESO's VLT Sees 'Oumuamua Getting a Boost (eso1820)
European Southern Observatory, 2018. ESO press releases.
The release of 27 June 2018 for the Micheli paper: the object was travelling about 114,000 km/h on 1 June 2018, faster than gravity alone predicts; outgassing favoured; a spacecraft explanation rejected because the change was smooth and the body tumbles. Images eso1820a (artist's impression, credit ESA/Hubble, NASA, ESO, M. Kornmesser) and eso1820b (predicted versus observed position).
What it's used for here
The illustration of the acceleration and the team's own framing of the alternatives.
