Galactic Trajectories of Interstellar Objects 1I/'Oumuamua, 2I/Borisov, and 3I/ATLAS
Shokhruz Kakharov, Abraham Loeb, 2024. arXiv.
Integrates the three objects' orbits in the Galactic potential with Monte Carlo ensembles and infers ages from their vertical excursions: 'Oumuamua from a young population (about 1 Gyr), 3I/ATLAS from the old thick disc.
What it's used for here
A 2024-2025 kinematic age estimate; the method rests on an assumed age-velocity relation.
