Plausible Home Stars of the Interstellar Object 'Oumuamua Found in Gaia DR2

Coryn A. L. Bailer-Jones, Davide Farnocchia, Karen J. Meech et al., 2018. The Astronomical Journal.

Traces the non-gravitational trajectory back through the Galactic orbits of seven million Gaia DR2 stars and finds four candidate encounters, the closest at 0.60 pc with the M dwarf HIP 3757 about a million years ago, and a slower one with the G dwarf HD 292249 3.8 million years ago. Notes that the sample is a small fraction of the stars and that finding the true home system was a priori unlikely. AJ 156, 205.
