Lost Colony: scientific tests confirm First Colony archaeological discovery
First Colony Foundation, 2024. firstcolonyfoundation.org.
Press release (14 August 2024): analysis at James Madison University's Madison Accelerator Laboratory found a copper earring from the Elizabethan Gardens dig on Roanoke Island to be of European copper; the Foundation reads it as a gift or trade item of 1584–1586 at the Algonquian village of Roanoac.
What it's used for here
Evidence for the Native village and the 1584–1586 contacts, not for the 1587 colony.
