Long-range correlation and partial $1/f^\alpha$ spectrum in a noncoding DNA sequence

Wentian Li, Kunihiko Kaneko, 1992. Europhysics Letters 17(7): 655–660.

Computes the mutual information function and a symbolic spectrum for a largely non-coding stretch of human DNA and finds very long-range correlations, which the authors put down mainly to repeated patterns.
