Singulion structure and the Voynich manuscript
Colin Layfield, Lisa Fagin Davis, 2026. Digital Medievalist 19.
Uses latent semantic analysis on pages, leaves, bifolia and quires to look for traces of the manuscript's original structure, arguing that it began as loose single-bifolium quires later bound out of order.
What it's used for here
The book (chapters 1, 4, 19 and 22) relies on it for the argument that the leaves were bound in the wrong order by someone who could not read them, and for the proposal to recover the sheet order from the water stain.
