Placed from the published description, about 100 miles south-west of San Diego (CBS, 2023); no position from the ships' logs or the 2009 report has been released. Fravor puts the CAP point about 40 miles south of the carrier and the contact to the west of it, so the intercept lay somewhere south and west of this point. An earlier version of this record put the point about 145 miles out, further than any description supports.
