South Atlantic and southern Indian Ocean (Vela 6911's field of view)
ocean region
Note
Drawn from the description only: Richelson gives the area in view of the bhangmeters as about 3,000 miles across, taking in the southern tip of Africa, the Indian Ocean, the South Atlantic and part of Antarctica. The circle (radius 2,400 km, centred at 20° E, 50° S) is placed to cover those; the satellite's actual footprint has not been published, and the flash could have been anywhere inside it.
