Henri van Effenterre
Archaeologist; excavator of Dreros, publisher of the Dreros bilinguals 1912–2007.
Henri van Effenterre is french archaeologist of the École française d'Athènes who, with Pierre Demargne, excavated Dreros in 1936 and published its archaic inscriptions, including the two Eteocretan-Greek bilinguals. (1912–2007), and appears in the record of Eteocretan and Eteocypriot as archaeologist; excavator of Dreros, publisher of the Dreros bilinguals.
One event on the site involves Effenterre: Demargne and van Effenterre find the two Dreros bilinguals in the Delphinion cistern (1936).
One question rest in part on what Effenterre did or said, among them “What do the Dreros and Amathus bilinguals actually establish about the two languages?”, which stands open: no answer ahead yet.
