Maurice Dunand is french archaeologist, excavator of Byblos and publisher of its pseudo-hieroglyphic inscriptions (1898–1987), and appears in the record of Byblos syllabary as french archaeologist who directed the excavation of Byblos from 1924 to 1975, found the pseudo-hieroglyphic inscriptions in 1928 to 1932, and published them with a sign list of 114 signs in Byblia Grammata (1945).
Three events on the site involve Dunand, from Maurice Dunand finds the bronze tablets, spatulas and stone fragments in the temple area of Byblos (1928) to Dunand publishes four more short stone fragments (1978).
Three questions rest in part on what Dunand did or said, among them “When were the Byblos inscriptions written?”, which stands open: 3 answers, none ahead.
