The text is Latin (or an Italian vernacular) enciphered with an Italian chancery mixed key of the Tranchedino type: several glyph-string signs per letter (more for vowels), signs for common syllables, a nomenclator of whole-word signs, and nulls; written either one plaintext word per written word, or with plaintext words split across written words, or as a continuous stream re-spaced.

Result: P1: 216 keys mapped over the documented range (homophones 2-6/1-4, 60-300 syllables, nomenclator 0-300, nulls 0-10 %) and three spacing practices; none within 2 of the manuscript's page locality (max 10.2, bounded by the plaintext's 10.3); fitted keys (20 corpora each) fail 12 (word spacing), 10 (split words) and 9 (stream) of 12 held-out statistics; line-initial effect 0.001-0.002 against 0.198. P2 (revised to sign-level alternations at matched vocabulary after the registered word merge chained): context merges give about three times the repeated 4-grams of random merges at equal vocabulary but no return of word order (0.27 bits after vs 0.40 before); Latin shows part of the same effect; the simulated keys give too few single-glyph alternations for the test to see them.
