Copied from an exemplar with different line breaks
The text we have was copied from an exemplar with different line breaks by scribes who adjusted word forms at the new line ends.
Where it stands
Still possibleIts tests haven't settled it: one piece of evidence for, none against. It needs two reviews to be accepted.
What it predicts
- Line-end forms are the same words as inside forms (T24 pattern), and line-end adjustments are commoner where lines are crowded (longer lines).
What would rule it out
- Line-end variants unrelated to line fullness and not alternants of inside forms.
