Answer · Voynich Manuscript
-m is a line-final form of -in / -n
At the end of a line the scribes write -m where the same word inside a line ends in -in, -iin or -n: a line-final form, as Latin scribes used line-end suspensions.
Where it stands
Most likelyIts test on the held-back half supported it: one piece of evidence for, none against. It needs two reviews to be accepted.
What it predicts
- On the confirmation half, among stems seen with both -m and -in/-n endings, the -m form's share is higher at line end than inside, beyond a within-page shuffle (z > 3).
What would rule it out
- No excess of -m at line end on half C.
