A shallow grey clay tray, about 12.5 by 10.5 by 2 cm with two suspension holes, found in 1969 in a dwelling at Gradešnica, north-west Bulgaria. The inside carries signs in four vertical registers divided by five lines; the outside a schematic human figure surrounded by nine signs. More than 40 signs have been reported, but published drawings disagree. Dated to the early Chalcolithic; readings as a calendar or as writing are not accepted.
