The public ASAS-SN V light curve shows no 2015-2018 trend, unlike the published reduction of the same camera
A straight line through the 153 public ASAS-SN V-band epochs of the star (camera bd, 2015.2-2018.6) gives -0.5 ± 1.2 mmag per year with yearly medians flat to 4 mmag, whereas Simon et al. measured +6.3 ± 1.4 mmag per year of fading from their own image-subtraction reduction of the same camera over 2015-2017; the two reductions of one data stream disagree at about 4 sigma.
What it means
Key questionWhat causes the slow fading of the star?
Most likely: a large, diffuse amount of circumstellar dust, more extended than the clumps that make the dips
Most likelyunchanged
