Why it matters

The 2005 edition gave sign identifications and tentative words such as 'l and rb but no agreed translation; Vanderhooft read one sign as ghayin, and Puech offered full readings in 2024 that differ from earlier ones⁠[1]⁠[2]⁠[3]. Haring's 2025 survey still calls both texts undeciphered⁠[4].
