Flinders Petrie
Excavator of Serabit el-Khadim; found and first published the Proto-Sinaitic inscriptions 1853–1942.
Flinders Petrie is english archaeologist (1853-1942) who excavated the Hathor temple at Serabit el-Khadim in 1904-1905 and recognised the inscriptions as a new alphabet (1853–1942), and appears in the record of Proto-Sinaitic and Wadi el-Hol: the first alphabet as excavator of Serabit el-Khadim; found and first published the Proto-Sinaitic inscriptions.
One event on the site involves Petrie: Flinders and Hilda Petrie find the sphinx, the statuette and about eight rock tablets at Mine L and publish them as a new alphabet (Jan 1905).
One question rest in part on what Petrie did or said, among them “When were the Serabit el-Khadim inscriptions written: in the Middle Kingdom, about 1850 BC, or in the New Kingdom?”, which stands open: 4 answers, none ahead.
