The enclosures were roofed communal and ritual buildings within a permanent hunter-gatherer settlement.
Where it stands
Most likelyIts tests partly supported it: four pieces of evidence for, one against. It needs two reviews to be accepted.
What it predicts
- Contemporary domestic architecture, water storage and food processing on the mound.
- Long use-lives with repairs, rebuilding and re-used pillars rather than one build and one burial.
- The same pattern at the other Taş Tepeler sites.
What would rule it out
- Demonstration that the domestic buildings and cisterns post-date all the pillar buildings, or that the pillar buildings were never roofed.
