## What it's used for here

Letter of 13 August 1947 (pages 4-7 of Section 2 as released by NARA, record group 65, HS1-834228961; also in PURSUE Release 01). Separate interviews by Special Agents Arthur F. Williams and T. Howard Waldron of Charles Casella, Jr. (about 7:45 pm; a round, black object 30-40 inches across moving south to north about 200 yards above the hill at Summit and Simons Avenues; course from the Bendix area to west of Westwood; fast enough to make them turn their heads), Joyce McFarland of 476 Simons Avenue (about 7:30 pm; round, silver-blue, appeared to revolve, in view about a minute; did not recall saying it looked like a bird), Mrs Winfield S. Booth across the street (saw nothing; no man pointed), and Pvt. William A. Truex, 47th Infantry, Fort Dix, born 12 April 1930 (8:00 pm; two to three feet across, 200 yards up, steady straight course north, 15-20 seconds, 'like a large, flat child's cup', no colour, no exhaust; first took it for a child's balloon). The Hackensack police took no further action and had no other reports.
