## What it's used for here

Yuval 8 (2014), written 1978 and published posthumously, with an editorial note by Rahn and a response by Kilmer. Bayer counts about eight rival transcriptions by 1978, judges that the problem was not solved, and argues the Ugarit notation is a separate channel from the Mesopotamian tradition rather than a later stage of it.
