# Towards the Deciphering of the "Blau Monuments": Some New Readings and Perspectives

Manfred Krebernik, 2019.

**Proto-cuneiform: the archaic texts of Uruk** Chapter0

## What it's used for here

New readings of the two Blau monuments through Sumerian lexemes (ZADIM "stone-cutter", ZA "beads", a 2 x 120 numeral) and a reading of the pair as a field sale between stone-cutters; shows how archaic signs split into later distinct signs. In J. Renn and M. Schemmel (eds.), Culture and Cognition: Essays in Honor of Peter Damerow, Max Planck Research Library Proceedings 11, pp. 36-55. Edition Open Access.
