# The White Shaman Mural: An Enduring Creation Narrative in the Rock Art of the Lower Pecos

Carolyn E. Boyd, Kim Cox, 2016. _University of Texas Press, Austin_.

Monograph on the mural, about 26 feet long and 13 feet high: the microscopy of its paint layers, which shows one planned composition, and a reading of it as a narrative of the birth of the sun and the beginning of time, built from Huichol (chapter 5) and Nahua (chapter 6) myth and ritual. Holds that a shared ideology was established in the Lower Pecos as long as four thousand years ago.
