# Acoustics Monitoring Program: Submarine Volcanic Eruption (Whistle)

Acoustics Program NOAA Pacific Marine Environmental Laboratory, n.d.. _NOAA PMEL Acoustics Program (pmel.noaa.gov)_.

Whistle was recorded on 7 July 1997 at 07:30 GMT by the hydrophone at 8°N 110°W. An undulating single-frequency signal like those from erupting arc volcanoes such as West Mata; recorded on one hydrophone only, so it cannot be located and may have travelled far.
